We have the keys!!

We met with our ss this morning & spent 2 hours going over the house. All was good besides a few minor issues with paint, tiles, under the breakfast bar.

The tiler has already been & has taken photos. In all our niches  the tiles around are chipped & we have noticed 1 row of tiles not straight.

The painter turned up & fixed up a couple of places.

Then I went out to pick up the kids & as I returned the kitchen company was just leaving & they sorted out the chips under the breakfast bar & put a bead of silicone that was missing there.

We also notice the kitchen tap I picked out is not the one that has been installed the code at the colour selections room does not match with the tap. It's smaller. Jan is hoping to get this sorted for us in the next few weeks.

I'm so happy that our house has turned out better than expected.

Our tiles were delivered today & we have good news we have a tiler & he will start this weekend.

The Fence is Down

Our fence came down yesterday & they cleaned the site today but the lovely toilet is still out the front. Our neighbour said the cleaners had been there today. It's getting real exciting.

I rang our broker today to find out if the bank will issue the cheque in time for Friday handover only to find out that their appointment was cancelled & rescheduled for 5pm today. Not sure if we will be able to get the cheque on time. Lucky for us we have enough in our savings to pay it & wait for the bank to reimburse us. Hopefully my broker will call me first thing in the morning.

The date is set!

I recieved a call from our ss yesterday afternoon & he has told me our hand over date will be the 5th June. This is about a week too late for our tiler so we are still looking for one.
The kids were in the car with me when I took the call & once I was off the phone everyone was screaming with excitement.
I've organised for our blinds & security doors to be measured up that afternoon & our tiles to be delivered.
We have already started getting quotes for our driveway & hopefully will have that done before we move in.
We are now counting down the days until we get our keys.

I'm hoping they will fix the brickwork where the pipes are coming out of the walls & also put the vent on the outside wall where we have the ducting for the rangehood.

Not happy with the way this pipe looks

We have also noticed that the vertical brick lines do not line up in certain areas. Which is quite annoying. If we had of been allowed to have a building inspector on site maybe we could have resolved this issue earlier.

We haven't been in since just after the kitchen went in so I think I'll ring my ss for a walk through before our handover walk through. At least we might be able to address some of these issues before handover & see if there is any issues inside. Otherwise we are quite happy with our house.

Handover Date?? Maybe??

I haven't posted in awhile as there hasn't been much happening. The painters started last Wednesday 13th May they are still going. Our ss said they will be finished next Thursday 28th May.
I stop past the house every afternoon & do not see any painters there yet I drive around the corner & notice painters at the display home being built.

Well I spoke to our ss again today & have been finally given a estimated handover date of 5th June. Note I said "estimated date" as we still have to wait until sometime next week for him to call us & give us a confirmed date. If you haven't noticed yet I'm so over it now.

This has now caused problems with our tiler who will not be able to do our job. Before we booked in the job with our tiler we spoke with our ss over a month ago & he said they would be finished by the 21 May in plenty of time for our tiler to start on the 1st June.
Tomorrow we will have to start ringing around for tilers again. It's going to be hard to find a good tiler to start in around 2 weeks.

If anyone can recommend a tiler on the Central Coast please leave a name & number.

Final Invoice

Our final invoice arrived yesterday in the mail & via email. We are still a few weeks off from getting the keys as the painters was supposed to start last Tuesday 5th May but one of them had pneumonia & will now start this Wednesday. So nothing has happened for the last 2 weeks. It's very frustrating when we are so close to the finish line.

Our ss can not give us a new date of completion which is going to cause problems as our tiler as he needs to start by the 1st June. So now I need to start looking for a new tiler as a back up.

Getting closer to the finish line!

With all the wild weather we have had earlier this week. We have lost power at home & our business.

So Rob decided to stop past the house yesterday to see if we had any damage & had a quick look through while he was there (this was his first look through the house since lockup). Luckily all looked good & he could not see any water leaks.
He said the tiler had finished the powder room & the main bathroom & the laundry had been redone with the right tiles. The tiler was starting on our ensuite & should be finished by next Wednesday.

Rob didn't think to get many photos & only come home with a few of the main bathroom. He also rang our supervisor & we will more than likely have the keys in 4 weeks or sooner. I'm doing the happy dance at the moment the end is nearly here. Then the fun bit starts organising our tiler & finally deciding what we will do with the flooring upstairs. Just waiting on quotes for solid timber floorboards to be laid.

Any way enough babbling here are some photos Rob took yesterday.

UPDATE 28/4/15
We have an estimated date 21/5/15. Just over 3 weeks away.

Kitchen Inspection

I met up with our supervisor this morning to inspect the house they are doing a fantastic job so far.

I found one issue with our tiles in the laundry we changed these & our powder room to Affinity Grey but our sales person put down Affinity Grey in the powder room & Affinity Ash in the Laundry. I was so upset I could have cried when I saw it.

So after I left the house I went to Tiles Direct & spoke with our sales person. She spoke to her manager & they will be ripping out the wrong tiles & replacing them with the tiles we wanted. Lesson learnt double check what has been put in writing before signing.

Stairs are looking good. I can't wait to see them stained.
